Today was Troy's last day as a Ramp Supervisor for the API Team. He has spent his last night hotel-hopping and is headed home for his last full weekend off.
Southwest is known for their red-bellied planes... All of them, including a majority of the specialty planes, have this characteristic. And I'm sure that you all remember the JetBlue scandal where passengers were stranded on the tarmac for 10+ hours... which brought to all air-travelers attention "the passengers bill of rights." Well, today, my dear husband was on a sitting duck (or bird, whichever you prefer!).
After boarding his plane to fly to MDW, the pilots learned of weather in the Chicago area, and were forced to delay take-off for about... oh, 2 hours or so. This means lots of sitting and waiting... on the tarmac. One of his new co-workers, Jonathan, was rather casual about it... and joked that TB (that's Troy Black) now had "p-e-r-s-p-e-c-t-i-v-e... now he has it from the customer's vantage point," and some where in there he included a "welcome to PHL, brother!" I thought it was kinda funny, but TB didn't feel the same way at the time!
At about 4:25 PM EST, they took off... only to get to MDW and find out about another delay. His originally scheduled 7:20 PM departure left at about 9:20 PM... another late night.
Gotta love weather delays, but I'm pleased to report that TB will land around 11 PM our time, and we'll enjoy our last full weekend in together in our home.
